Women and the Climate Emergency with Natasha Walter & Trudi Warner

Thursday May 23rd, 6.30 for 7pm

We often hear that women suffer more at times of climate disaster and that women are more active than men in environmental movements. Why is this, and how can we ensure a safer, more equal future for women and the planet?

In this small, facilitated discussion we'll talk about whether being a woman in a patriarchal world influences our relationship to the environment; about women’s role in the current climate movement; our hopes for climate justice; the opportunities and challenges in building solidarity with other women; and other issues that arise.

This event is for women, trans women and nonbinary people. We will be limiting numbers in order to encourage open and meaningful discussion.

Natasha Walter is a writer and campaigner, and Honorary Professor at the Centre for Climate Crime and Climate Justice at Queen Mary University of London. Trudi Warner is a campaigner and retired social worker who recently faced contempt of court proceedings after holding up a sign reminding jurors of their right to acquit according to their conscience.
