Get involved with Kairos

There are many ways to get involved and support the project.

Speak at Kairos

We’re always looking for speakers with interesting things to say about any of the questions listed on our home page or other issues we may have overlooked.

Contribute ideas

Let us know if you have ideas for events, speakers or collaborations or any other suggestions for how to build and improve the project.

Spread the word

Tell sympathetic friends and colleagues about us, forward on our email newsletter and our WhatsApp, and share our posts on your social media channels. You can find us on Twitter, Instagram and Mastodon.

Donate to our crowdfunder

We have a small start-up grant from The Open Society Foundations, but in order to keep events affordable, and to develop the project, we need to raise some additional funds.

If you’d like to support us you can donate via our Chuffed crowdfunder or email us.

Work with us

We currently have several paid and voluntary roles to fill.

Paid Roles

Social Media and PR Assistant

We’ve had an incredible few months since we launched in October last year and we’re now expanding both our public events programme and our members’ activities.

We’re looking for someone to help with our social media channels (T:@kairosclub; I:@kairoscounterclub M:@kairos@mstdn.social), our newsletter and whatsapp group.

Until now, we’ve relied on word of mouth to let people know about Karios, but we want to start spreading the word more widely.

This is a paid, part-time role which for the right person could grow as we develop the project. Social media experience is important, but so is a genuine enthusiasm for Kairos, a desire to spend time in the space, and the energy to help build something transformational.

Help on Events Nights

We’re looking for organised, sociable people to help out at events, welcoming guests at the door, serving drinks and food and clearing away, and other practical tasks as may be necessary throughout the course of the evening.

This is paid shift work. There will also be sections of the evening with nothing to do, when you would be free to enjoy the event. Experience is less important than a genuine enthusiasm for Kairos, a desire to spend time in the space, and the energy to help build something transformational.

Voluntary Roles

If you’re able to contribute unpaid, we’re also in need of volunteers.

Help with our food

Food is key at Kairos, usually in the form of a one pot vegetarian stew that we all eat together. We’re looking for someone to take on responsibility for our food. This would suit you if you like an interesting project, as it will involve sourcing ethically-produced local produce, planning dishes, and either cooking yourself or finding and managing volunteer cooks.

Help finding space

Unfortunately, our new Essex Street home is only temporary, so we’re still looking for a long-term full-time space. If you have any experience or contacts in the property world, or simply some time to get on the phone to agents or walk the streets looking for empty store-fronts, we would love your help.

Help at events

We also sometimes need an extra pair of hands for an hour or two at events. We would repay you with a free ticket and the unquantifiable pleasure of giving.

To find out more about any of these roles, or arrange to have a chat, please email us.
