Warm Data Lab at Kairos
Tuesday March 14th
“How do we think our way through the messes we’re in when the way we think is part of the mess?” — Nora Bateson
The climate crisis is a thread that runs through discussions at Kairos. But if we only look at it through the usual framing, what is it we’re missing? At this slightly different Kairos event, led by two local data lab hosts, we will explore what it’s like to look at an issue through multiple contexts all at once. What happens when we see things differently? It’s for us to find out together.
The world we share is complex and constantly changing. The changing climate and the emergence of pandemics are being felt all across the world and we are not prepared. This can leave us feeling stuck or overwhelmed. We often work in contexts that are focused on ‘doing’, ‘achieving’, ‘measuring’, operating within specific roles and specialisms. But we are complex and we live in complex times. This session creates space to lean into the vitality of life. Warm Data Labs allows us to be, to be curious, and to learn together. The process is designed by the International Bateson Institute and is practised by a growing number of warm data hosts around the world.
Participants will be invited to explore an open-ended question, revealed on the night, and to share their stories through the lens of multiple contexts. We invite people from all backgrounds, experiences, places and times to a heartfelt, caring exploration of our changing world. This is a highly participatory 1.5-hour session involving a number of small group conversations. For this reason, we ask that you only register if you are able to attend for the full 90 minutes. To keep it accessible, tickets are just £5 for both Kairos members and non-members. However, any additional donation you are able to make to cover our costs, including food, would be very much appreciated.
