Operations Manager

Central London, Part-time

We are looking for a passionate, practical and dynamic Operations Manager to take on responsibility for the day-to-day running of the venue and events at Kairos and to play a leading role in realising our vision.

This is a new role, and you will work closely with the Director to agree a clear and sensible allocation of responsibilities. You will be flexible, unflappable, used to working in a small, hands-on team, and highly motivated to ensure the smooth running of the building and our events. You should have a genuine enthusiasm for the Kairos project, enjoy spending time in the space, and have the energy to help build something transformational.

You will have responsibility for maintaining the building, managing staff, setting up for events, welcoming guests and members, and for venue and staff administration. The role is based primarily at our venue in central London, although occasionally it may be possible to work from home.

Vegan Cook

Central London, Freelance

We are looking for an experienced vegan cook to prepare simple, high-quality vegan food for guests at our events. You will have experience as a cook or chef in a café, restaurant, or catering setting, food hygiene and safety regulations knowledge and certificate, and the ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

You will plan menus, following discussion with the Operations Manager and the Director, and prepare and serve food for events and members. You will also help to manage food supplies, maintain kitchen cleanliness and ensure compliance with food hygiene standards, assist with setting up and closing down the kitchen during events and work collaboratively with the team to ensure smooth service during busy periods.

You will be friendly, team-oriented, flexible and adaptable to changing schedules, comfortable working in a community space and have a genuine alignment with our values and world view.

Events Staff

Central London, Shift Work

We are looking for organised, sociable people with experience of hospitality or catering to provide support during our events.

Duties include preparing the space for events, welcoming guests at the door, serving drinks and food, preparing and managing guests lists, clearing away and closing down the venue after events, and other practical tasks as may be necessary throughout the course of the evening. This is paid shift work and days and times will vary.

Co-Curator, Film Programme

Central London, Freelance

We are looking for an experienced film programmer or researcher to co-curate our film programme alongside our Director. We regularly screen documentaries, movies and short films, and are keen to expand our schedule.

You will need to have a broad knowledge of radical, ideas-focused films that align with our talks programme, both contemporary and classic, and the skill and enthusiasm to seek out more. This would be a fantastic project for the right person. Hours and rate negotiable.

Co-Curator, Music and Entertainments Programme

Central London, Freelance

We are looking for an experienced music and entertainments programmer to work alongside the Director to bring more music and entertainment into our space, both for a weekly slot, and for one-off mid-week evening and weekend events.

You will need to have a broad knowledge of musicians and entertainers who would be a good fit for our space and our community, and the skill and enthusiasm to seek out more. This would be a fantastic project for the right person. Hours and rate negotiable.

Librarian

Central London, Freelance

We are looking for a librarian to help manage and expand our book collection.

You will need to have a broad knowledge of books and authors, past and present, that reflect our world-view and complement our talks programme, as well as the skill and enthusiasm to seek out more. You will need to be an experienced administrator, ideally having worked with a library collection. This would be a fantastic project for the right person. Hours and rate negotiable.

Web Developer

Central London, Freelance

We are looking for an experienced web developer who we can consult on a freelance basis, to help us manage, and when necessary, add new functionality to our website, as well as be on hand in the event of any problems or issues. We are looking for someone with experience of WordPress, Divi Theme and WooCommerce as well as Paid Memberships Pro, Stripe and Mailchimp.

Speak at Kairos

We’re always looking for speakers with interesting things to say about any of the questions listed on our home page or other issues we may have overlooked.

Contribute ideas

Let us know if you have ideas for events, speakers or collaborations or any other suggestions for how to build and improve the project.

Donate stuff and skills

We are currently in need of furniture (armchairs, tables, lamps, curtains, plant pots etc), books for the library that fit within the Kairos programme, fabric and sewing equipment for our sewing club, and kitchen equipment. If you have carpentry or other practical skills, and some free time, we’d love your help constructing shelves and a bar.
